Waste Reduction Week for Schools
2015 WRW Program for Schools
School is the perfect place to practice waste reduction. Students who learn about waste in their classrooms or run their own composting or recycling programs will be able to teach their families about how to minimize waste.
The Waste Reduction Week in Canada School Kit and Poster are a great starting point for any educator who wants their school to reduce the amount of waste they are producing as well as providing students with valuable curriculum based lessons that can become habits of a lifetime.
Why not register your school for WRW? Your school's waste reduction activities will be listed on the national website with others from across the country to show that you are making an effort to minimize Canada's waste.
|Get your classes involved in the Ease My Load campaign! Atlas, the WRW mascot has a heavy burden carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, and the waste we produce doesn't make is job any easier! Download a cut-out of Atlas and include him in your 3Rs activities. Make a short video or a digital picture, and upload them to our website. Click here for all the details.|
Get your school involved in RCBC's Waste Free Lunch Challenge; a resource kit designed to promote the active practice of waste reduction principles.
|Canadian students from kindergarten to post secondary can get involved in the Recycle My Cell Challenge by making sure that all our old and out-of-use cellphones, smartphones, PDAs, pagers and their batteries are properly recycled. We will give you everything you need to easily set up your own Recycle My Cell collection site. At the end of the year, we will announce the Recycle My Cell Challenge winners.|
We’d like to hear about your ideas and initiatives! If you have any special events planned in your community, let us know! RCBC would be happy to publicize these events to our members.
